Hope everyone has had a great Christmas, got plenty of time in to see loved ones, spoiled by Santa and went home with good memories, and full bellies from all the wonderful treats that come with Christmas.
Where to Start?
As for the offseason, I’ve spent a lot of time working with OBS and throwing together some code to enhance our livestreams. Kinda got the coding bug earlier on this year as a hobby, and its been fun to tinker and learn how to make my ideas a reality.
The coding is with graphic overlays for use during our live streams IRL as well as when we are organizing / running virtual drift events online in Assetto Corsa during our regular off season. Lots of cool stuff coming up on screen next year during the live events, and if you manage to catch a round of our virtual drift competition being streamed on YouTube, You’ll see some of the new stuff being worked in there bit by bit. We had some game audio problems / audio delays on the first event for a bit – but had Spec-D’s own Emcee Tony Koch do some voice over for the first round and it turned out rather well.
Virtual elements include a multi camera setup (Courtesy of an OBS and CM plugin) telemetry reporting (throttle and brake position, steering wheel angle, and 2 g-force meters are fed over online telemetry) and a virtual start light car. Kudos to whomever made that vehicle, as I’ve only stumbled across the link crossposted on forums – a genius idea over scripting.
Most of the non game provided elements will be available for real life use as well – Ticker with real-time input, Top 16 Bracket Board, Qualifying Overlays. The tech that powers this helps us also stay organized in the pits on event days. Looking at a solution to publish this out to the drivers via an app of some sort, most likely browser based – sometime in the near future.
Big thanks to the fellow drift nerd / homie Dave Sandal for helping code up some of the elements we will be using for Qualifying / Top 16 overlays.
Do you even post anymore, bro?
I haven’t been too attentive to social media this year, lacking in posting anything to Instagram or Facebook – I’ve had plenty of other side projects on the go, most of which would be for the upcoming 2025 season, aside from working my Day Job. Worst media guy ever, right?
Because of this, I’ve decided to open up the gallery to January 21 2025 for public, watermark free downloads – No account Required.
The entire 2024 Spec-D Season has been uploaded, as well as all photography from Driftcon After Dark 2025. Sorry for withholding from y’all this season, just had to pick my priorities and by the end of the day most days, FB or IG didn’t make it in the cut, let alone some time to get edits done.
I had a lot of fun this year on the few times I was able to escape from work and take off to Mission, Seattle and for all the countless times we’d been to Rad Torque or Stratotech. Some days I was staffing, the others I was a full tilt media guru.. So if there is some galleries with slightly less photos than others, that would be why.
